❤️ CHAPTER 7 * That night not only did I not sleep a wink, but I didn't even allow Sara to sleep until after 3.00 in the morning. * In the darkness of our little room, I kept her awake talking about Luca until she stopped answering me and finally collapsed. * She liked that boy too, but not so much that she made us sick like I was doing. * When Sara had fallen asleep, I waited until the first light of dawn, wondering if I wasn't coping without the innkeeper: but at least Luca liked me?? How interested was he in me…if he was at all? * During the party on that terrace, he had done nothing but look at me from afar, it's true... but then he had never approached me and this behavior had hurt me!!! * The following morning Sara and I arrived at the beach at midday and Luca, generally a rather early riser, was already no longer there. This made me sad and I remained thoughtful until late afternoon. * As the sun set, Sara asked me if it wasn't time to go home, but I told her to start walking and I'd catch up with her before dinner. * It was too beautiful to stay there, sitting on the seashore watching that immense ball of fire disappear behind the horizon. * The friends had all left and I was left alone on the beach, while the lifeguard closed the last umbrellas. * I was standing there, lost in thought, when I felt a presence behind me. I turned and saw Luca, standing there looking at me in silence....
