As already established from the beginning, we would not return directly to Modena, but we would stop for a couple of days in Polignano a Mare, a wonderful place about thirty kilometers from Bari. Another brother of my father lived there, together with his family and what better occasion than to stop by and say hello to them after years and years of not seeing them? * As agreed, Sara and I would leave Lecce on the evening of August 29th, while mum, dad and uncle would join us with the car (too full of luggage to fit 5 of us) the following morning. * The distance between Lecce and Polignano was about a hundred kilometers and, leaving with the 9pm train, we would have arrived at our destination around 10.30pm. At the station we would find uncle (the other one) who would take us to his house. * Dad himself was supposed to accompany us to Lecce station that evening, but Sara and I insisted on going there alone on the littorina, a typical local train...
