As already agreed from the beginning, we would not return directly to Modena, but we would stop for a couple of days in Polignano a Mare, a beautiful place about thirty kilometers from Bari. Another brother of my father lived there, together with his family and what better occasion than that to stop by and say hello to them after years and years of not seeing them? * As agreed, Sara and I would leave Lecce on the evening of August 29, while mom, dad and uncle would join us by car (too full of luggage for the 5 of us to fit in) the next morning. * The distance between Lecce and Polignano was about a hundred kilometers and leaving on the 9:00 pm train, we would arrive at our destination around 10:30 pm.
