❤️ CHAPTER 7 * Not only did I not sleep that night, but I didn't even let Sara sleep until after 3:00 in the morning. * In the darkness of our little room, I kept her awake talking about Luca until she stopped answering me and finally collapsed. * She liked that boy too, but not enough to make a sickness out of him like I was. * When Sara was asleep, I stayed up until the first light of dawn, wondering if I wasn't counting things out: did Luca at least like me? How interested was he in me... assuming he was? * During the party on that terrace, he had done nothing but watch me from afar, it's true... but then he had never come near me and this behavior had hurt me!!! * The next morning Sara and I arrived at the beach late at noon and Luca, usually an early riser, was already gone. This saddened me and I remained pensive until late afternoon. * As the sun was setting, Sara asked me if it wasn't time to go home, but I told her to start walking and that I would catch up with her before dinner. * It was too beautiful to stay there, sitting on the seashore watching that immense ball of fire disappear behind the horizon. * My friends had all gone away and I was left alone on the beach, while the lifeguard closed the last umbrellas. * I was standing there, absorbed in my thoughts, when I felt a presence behind me. I turned and saw Luca, standing still and looking at me in silence....
